KGCE FEED: 3rd Alumni meet

On 26th Jan 2006 3rd Alumni meet of our college KGCE took place.It took place in the Auditorium(which was under construction).I arrived with Juniors in Local train and met few friends from my batch of 2004 at Station. According to me students from 2004(passout) batch were in majority followed by students from 2005.
When we entered college we were greeted by some Juniors who made us fill form.At that time I remembered my old days when standing in the coridor I used to fill my numerous KT forms.After I filled my form I was given a rose and coupon for lunch.I took special care for coupon cause if I lose it then I would not get lunch.

The Alumni meet was attended by Chairman Dharkar Sir,Secretary of Trust,Chartered accountant of KGCE Mr Vaidya,Principal of KGCE Mr Lele and Principal of KGCE Arts and Commerce college.RB Singh Sir also shared the dias with Chief Guests.
Professor(?)Yogesh Yedekar gave the welcome speech.He informed us about the number of students who have come in merit list last year also gave the details of Lecturers who have completed their Phd or MTech from various Universities.Later Rohini Indore hosted the function.both Yogesh and Rohini were my batch mates.Wished I could be in their class and attend their lectures.Actually I just wanted to see how good they are in putting students to sleep. :P
The function started with speech from Lt Cdr Bijay Nair who was from Ist batch of Instrumentation.He told us how the KGCE had started in a small place and how good he feels seeing it today in appreciable position.He described how he went on to Navy and become Lt Comm after passing out from here.His speech was very encouraging.It would have been good if juniors of our college were present there and hear his speech.

Next came my turn to deliver speech.I had planned to speak in my hardcore shudh hindi but dont know why I started speaking in English as soon as I came on stage.It may be due to numerous business meets and presentations I am giving while I am on job.
I talked about the alumni meet and how good I felt meeting all old friends.After this I raised issue of the way our college is Projected in Mumbai.I gave suggestion that we should make a database of all the alumni people and give access to all the members of Alumni so that we can be in touch.Then I told that we need to improve image of college and propagate about its achievements...mistakenly I called it Branding....which later came out to be most criticised point in later speeches.
After me Abaji Rawool gave speech.Well it seemed that this guy wanted to take some revenge from Principal or Chairman.He talked about bad roads,No Gymkhana etc.He was too fiery in his speech.

4th person was Tarvinder Singh.He started his speech with shayari and ended also with it.Singh must be wondering about the new competition he faced against his monopoly over saying shayari.He started with saying something about statistics and told quoting Albert Einstein that statistics presented by previous speakers was wrong.....and he left us wondering what statistics and who presented it?
He told how he used to spend time in canteen with girls,enjoying secenry around hostel and studying in candle light when there was power cut.
His speech was real fun with good jokes in between.Infact I would rate his speech as the best among all.

Later a guy 2006 passout gave his speech.He balantly criticised the people who came up with negative points(thats myself and Abaji).He went ahead and told that road,infrasturcture is not responsibility of College and people who want that should stand for elections.So you can soon see Abaji standing for elections of KGCE corporator.:D. Also he told that college is not factory of Soap or Oil that it needs Branding or Image enhancement...."Knowledge cant be sold" thats what he told....again stupefying me with the fact that no one talked anything bout selling.....who cares.
After this he went ahead describing some big job he does as a Consultant and within 6 months he has become some suicide specialist...oops... actually it may be suicide consultant or....whats it called...I forgot the term.So for more than 5 mins he went on describing how he got drop and then he studied hard and brought good percentage and now he has become some intellectual doing N number of things.....Someone sitting behind commented he doesnt like branding of College....but he likes self Branding and self promotion.

After this Ex SS Vikas Anand came.He told Chairman that he is a sportsperson and he felt very bad seeing the condition of college playground and hoped that Chairman will do something about it.
Last Speaker was Aniket Sinkar who said some similar things.

After this Chairman gave speech.The speech by ex students was by and large consisted of complaints.I personally expected Chairman to be angry on students for misusing the forum.But I was amazed at his humbleness and his mild nature.His speech didnt have even an iota of anger or misgiving.Not only that he addressed each and every complaints that were raised by me,Abaji and Vikas in calm and easy manner.
He first told that he was happy to know that students from KGCE are today in Army(adressing Lt. Nair).He advised the youngsters and other students from college to take this example and Join Army.Then he took the issue of Branding and Publicity.He told that he also agrees on it and hence he had called few Reporters to cover the Alumni meet and is also looking ahead for the makeover of college website which will improve the image of college.For the roads he told that he was helpless cause the corporator of Karjat diverted the funds for road construction to other projects.That was under the pressure from localites.For College playground he told that Singh Sir will take care of it.In between he cracked some really good jokes.I never knew that our Chairman had good sense of humor.

In the end Singh Sir gave his Speech of Thanks....which he humorously told had become tradition that it should be delivered by him.

After the function got over we had lunch in Canteen.

ALong with outer view the inner view of college has also improved dramatically.We have more clean toilets now with clean Mirror.You enter toilet and you feel like peeing.Can u guess who is this guy?
